Akagera’s northern lakes hold hippo, crocodile and some of the best birding in Rwanda. This day combines a game drive up the park with the boat cruise on Lake Ihema.
The cruise runs with a park guide and gets you close to pods of hippo and the shoebill’s territory without disturbing them. It is the most relaxed way to see the park’s water.

Drive north through the park to the lakes, take the boat cruise with a park guide, and game drive back out in the afternoon.

Akagera charges park entry per person per day, and the boat cruise carries its own fee payable at the park.
