The canopy walk hangs 50 metres above the forest floor on the edge of Nyungwe, and the view over the treetops is the reason most people come to this part of Rwanda.
Nyungwe is the largest remaining mountain rainforest in East Africa, and the walk is only part of it: there are trails, colobus troops and thirteen primate species. You overnight at the forest edge and return at your own pace.
Kigali to Nyungwe
Drive west through the hills to the forest, with an afternoon trail or a visit to the tea plantations.
Canopy walk and return
An early canopy walk above the treetops, then a forest trail before the drive back to Kigali.
The canopy walkway carries its own fee and is guided by park staff. Timed entry is required in peak season.
