Gorillas & Golden Monkeys

Two treks, two species, and the Virunga volcanoes in between.

Duration4 days / 3 nights
Journey basisPrivate journey
Starts / endsKigali, Rwanda
Best timeYear-round. The drier months, June to September and December to February, are easier underfoot.

Four days in the foothills with permits arranged for both a gorilla family and a golden monkey troop. The trekking days are deliberately separated so you are not walking hard two mornings in a row.

In between there is the Dian Fossey site, the twin lakes and the villages around Musanze. Accommodation is in the foothills, minutes from the park headquarters.
